1Windows 7 is Garbage  Nov 23, 2009
If your are looking for a positive review - skip this.
Vista was Rubbish, now its predecessor - Windows 7 is Garbage.
We Installed "7" into 4 computers -
All 4 computers resulted in GIGO (Garbage in/Garbage out).
These computers have 2 gigs of RAM, 3 had AMD cpus (dual-core),
and 1 Intel (quad core + a hard drive of 7200 RPM.

Computer 1: the Boot slowed from 8 seconds (XP) to 11 seconds.
2 USB devices were not recognized. 4 'legacy' programs did not work. (oh, yes, just a reminder - some programs can not be upgraded).

Computer 2: Boot Slowed from 8 seconds to 14 seconds. Video card
was not recognized. USB phone did not function.

Computer 3: Crashed. Never came back. Had to re-install XP.
and it is doing nicely (as usual).

Computer 4: Refused Windows 7. It was running RC 7, then came
the full 'upgrade' to 7 - and it just refused to
upgrade. 9 blue screens.

Windows 7 is Vista in disguise - it is wearing a new dress, new shoes, better lipstick, a hat and the chair that the new Microsoft Pig sits on is sturdier. The new Pig microsoft created does not fall off the chair so often and its lipstick
does not get smeared so often. "7" does not have "classic options" so if you get lost with it idiotic menus - Microsoft wants to keep you lost. There is no REAL upgrade for XP - just VISTA , because, well, 7 happens to be VISTA (with its new wardrobe).

Don't waste your good hard earned money on this piece of junk.
Microsoft must have paid a lot of people to write 'good' reviews (they own billions). I own a computer firm, and we are still installing Windows XP Pro SP3. We discourage 7 and tell our customers why.

Also their is a rumor on the web - (not proven) that Windows 7 has back door ware (Microsoft worked with the NSA) that is searching for "terrorist activities" built into 7.
Although this is still rumor - often rumor has its bases on facts . And we do NOT TRUST MICROSOFT (especially telling its customers they are "NOT PROTECTED" when they Turn off "automatic updates" - oh, yeah, right. Microsoft deserves go down in history - down to waste, like AOL.

Good so far. Takes a lot of tweaking to re-establish old habits from previous operating system (Vista).

4Win7 Upgrade  Nov 22, 2009
Win7 upgrade comes with two discs, one for 32 bit and 64 bit versions. I got the Win7 Upgrade to install over Vista as an upgrade only, but after having read about it, I decided to do a clean install instead of an upgrade over Vista. I'm not quite sure as to the difference between the Upgrade and the full install, but I'm glad I did the upgrade, as the process was very smooth and straight forward. I was concerned about upgrading to the 64 bit version because I was running 32 bit Vista, but the transition went without a flaw. My system seems to be faster, all of my previous programs and peripherals run without a problem, things come up quicker when clicking on them and I love the new look. The new OS is taking some getting used to, but I have no regrets whatsoever! However, I have found that some device drivers in the "device manager" will come up showing an error. I had a problem finding drivers for them, but found with a bit of forum research, that all of the drivers I had a problem with were found in the "C:\SWsetup folder. It's like some kind of carry over from my previous Vista version. Anyway, I highly recommend Win7 Upgrade; do a "clean install" and you should be very pleased with it.

3BETTER THAN VISTA BUT A LITTLE QUIRKY  Nov 22, 2009
Installation over Vista took about 2 hours with a couple of minor hiccups during the process.
It works much better than Vista but a couple of quirks still remain with integration with my mail server
Incredimail, with Explorer ceasing to work and/or crash modules appearing and incredimail shutting down.
I think my next computer will be a MAC.
